Fruits and Vegetables
Official Audio Prompt
In recent times, the wax layering of fruits and vegetables has created ripples of uncertainty in the minds of common people. People want to know how beneficial or deleterious it is for our bodies. Some people are even removing this wax coating from non-organic fruits and vegetables by peeling off the upper layers. For other people, this wax layering issue is one of the prime reasons for them turning to organic food. However, very few people know the actual reason why these wax coatings are applied. The purpose is that the shelf life of conventionally cultivated products increases when they are coated with wax. That not only helps retain the moisture in products but also saves them from getting bruised while being packed in containers. Moreover, the waxes applied are non-toxic. However, naturally extracted wax is preferable to petroleum-based wax. Be that as it may, there are methods for rinsing these outer layers of fruits and vegetables without causing damage to their outer bodies. Therefore, both organic and non-organic products can be consumed even after being wax coated if washed properly.
