Time Travel
Time travel is a popular theme in science fiction, but it can also be a useful tool in quantum physics. A team of researchers has shown [blank] by manipulating quantum entanglements, one can design experiments that simulate backward time travel and gain advantages in quantum metrology. Quantum entanglement is a phenomenon in which two or more particles share a quantum state, such that their properties are correlated even when they are far [blank] .By using entanglement, the researchers can teleport a state from the middle of an experiment to the beginning, effectively sending information back in time. [blank] allows them to choose the optimal state for the experiment after learning the outcome, and achieve higher precision than possible in classical systems. The researchers propose a scenario in [blank] an experimentalist wants to measure the strength of an unknown interaction using a quantum probe. By preparing a pair of entangled qubits and teleporting the optimal state to the probe, the experimentalist can maximize the information gain per probe. The researchers claim that this simulated time travel can enable novel operational advantages in quantum metrology, and suggest that "they do allow you to create a better tomorrow [blank] fixing yesterday's problems today."
